Nagoshi: Yakuza unlikely to move to 360

Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi has said that it’s unlikely to move the series from PlayStation to Xbox.

“At the beginning of the project we spoke to all the platform holders including Sony and Microsoft,” Nagoshi, currently working on Binary Domain, told Eurogamer.

“Every platform holder was negative about this prospect, but we kept on pushing because we believed in the potential, and as we kept going one platform holder that showed interest and saw the prospects of this title was Sony.

“That’s how we started working with them, and that’s probably not going to change.”

The first two titles in the series released on PS2, with another four titles – two main canon, two spin-offs – on PS3 and a PSP title to boot. All the main canon entries have released in the west, but spin-offs have remained off-limits.

Nagoshi also told EG that with Of The End’s release in Japan, it was the last of its kind in the series.

“The basic style and mechanics is really an old game that started on PS2 and continued on PS3. Times keep changing, and if we started on some new games they would be in a very different shape – so the last game was the end of one particular era.”

Nagoshi’s next game Binary Domain launches on February 14 in the US and February 17 in the UK and Europe for PS3 and 360.

io ho giocato i primi due su PS2, è un gran bel gioco!!
ma è troppo "giapponese" per arrivare su 360 purtroppo...

Infatti, a parte il titolo, nell'intervista dicono che con l'ultimo episodio su PS3 voglio chiudere un'era visto che Yakuza (in quanto brand e a livello di level design, idee e gameplay ) è un gioco oramai dal feeling "vecchio", appartenente al passato e da ora in avanti intendono intraprendere nuove strade.
