August 2021 US NPD THREAD - August 2021 consumer spending across video game hardware, content and accessories grew 7% when compared to a year ago, to an August record $4.4B. YTD consumer spending totaled $37.9B, a 13% increase when compared to the same period in 2020.

 

US NPD 13 Month Trend - Hardware was a primary driver of spending gains in August. Led by PS5, hardware dollar sales gained 45% when compared to August 2020. Mobile and Subscription pushed August content spending higher when compared to a year ago.

 

US NPD HW - Nintendo Switch was the best-selling hardware platform in units during both the August month and year-to-date, while PlayStation 5 leads both time periods in dollar sales.

 

US NPD HW - After 10 months in market PlayStation 5 remains the fastest selling PlayStation platform in history.

 

US NPD SW - Madden NFL 22 debuted as the best-selling game of August, while also ranking 4th among the best-selling games of 2021 year-to-date. This is the 22nd consecutive year that a Madden NFL franchise release has been the best-selling title of its launch month.

 

US NPD SW - Ghost of Tsushima ranked as the 2nd best-selling game of August, after finishing at #110 on the best-selling titles chart in July. The launch of Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 drove the change.

Settembre sarà probabilmente la fine di questa serie, in caso contrario laltro mese papabile è febbraio con luscita di Horizon.

...per ricominciare ad ottobre (sempre che non ci siano sorprese anche a settembre ma oramai anche in USA un po' di saturazione potrebbe iniziare a farsi sentire, quante unità ha piazzato Switch LTD?)

Ad ora ha venduto un numero ragguardevole di console.

Ha già superato il totale venduto da Xbox One ed entro fine anno, massimo inizio del prossimo, supererà il totale di PS4.

E' ancora distante dai 45-50 milioni di esemplari, quote toccate dalle console di maggior successo nella storia (DS, PS2, XB360, Wii).

Una console semi introvabile nella percezione comune.....è sta battendo tutti i suoi vecchi record mi chiedo quando venderebbe se fosse disponibile ovunque senza problemi. 

 

In tutto questo sarebbe bello avere qualche numero sul fronte MS.

 

Switch una marcia trionfale, mi chiedo se la OLED riuscirà a spingerà ancora più su.

Numeri precisi è difficile darli visto che da qualche mese non trapela nessun numero, però a marzo 2021 Switch era a circa 28M (migliaio più migliaio meno), quindi è verosimile pensare che ad ora sia sui 30M. Per fare un paragone PS4 è a ~35M e Xbox one a ~28M (considera che per queste due i dati che si hanno sono ancora più incerti in quanto mancano mesi anche precedenti, quindi prendili come riferimenti).

Li da ancora in ogni report finanziario, sono divisi in Americhe (34.9M) , Europa (22.7M) , Giappone (21.2M) e “resto del mondo” (10.3M).

Li da ancora in ogni report finanziario, sono divisi in Americhe (34.9M) , Europa (22.7M) , Giappone (21.2M) e “resto del mondo” (10.3M).

Ah ecco perché prima li ho cercati nelle loro pagine sulle investor relations e non li ho trovati mentre mi ricordavo che c'erano sempre stati.

 

Quindi in USA Switch al 31 giugno può essere circa verso i 31-32 milioni (credo che per "Americhe" intendano USA+Canada+Brasile che sono, al momento gli unici paesi dove è ufficialmente distribuita o almeno così mi par di ricordare ma non sono sicuro se ci sia anche il Messico).

 

Ttanta roba, considerato che tanto quest'anno che soprattutto l'anno prossimo (con Arceus, Zelda e Splatoon 3, senza contare i giochi non ancora annunciati) potrebbe superare in scioltezza i 40 milioni entro marzo 2023 (che è, secondo me, quando uscirà il successore)

Scusate se lo chiedo qui. Il titolo “grosso” di Nintendo per questo Natale qual’è ? Come l’anno scorso non ci sarà nessun system seller da piazzare a ridosso di dicembre?

Scusate se lo chiedo qui. Il titolo “grosso” di Nintendo per questo Natale qual’è ? Come l’anno scorso non ci sarà nessun system seller da piazzare a ridosso di dicembre?

Pokemon diamante e perla, dovrebbe superare i 10M senza troppi problemi (mondialmente). In teoria c’è anche Mario party in uscita a ottobre, il precedente su Switch ha venduto circa 15M di copie.

Mi ero dimenticato di ben 2 pokemon questo inverno. E del nuovo Mario party. Ultimamente Nintendo non è che dispensi molte news sui giochi.
