Una cosa: ci vuole una serie velocizzazione del browser. ipad2 è potentissimo, ma con tre tab aperti, il browser muore. E' otimizzato alla cazz webkit.

Usa Atomic Web Browser (completo) per iPad...

Si si, parlavo proprio di quello sin dal lancio.
Rallenta troppo con tre tab su siti pesanti. Potrebbe fare molto di più, visto che il flash è disattivo.
Prova ad avere un sito con un video in html, ed un altro sito come ee.it, vedrai che muore o quasi. Credo che si potrebbe fare di più. Credo....

Sicuramente si può fare di più.
Secondo me la maggior parte delle app per iPad 2 nemmeno sfrutta il nuovo processore Dual Core (sia per far durare di più i dispositivi, sia per pigrizia: considerando che andrebbero riscritte profondamente per differenziare il lavoro).

In futuro la situazione migliorerà sicuramente.

Mah, io ho avuto il piacere di usare grand central dispatch su SL e da quanto ne so dovrebbe essere disponibile anche per iOS, se è così non è poi troppo un casino rendere una applicazione più performante in termini di sfruttamento di core. Stai sicuro, inoltre, che il browser di apple li sfrutta questi core, sarebbe troppo stupido se non fosse così. Io non conosco il codice di iOS e non ho mai sviluppato per questa piattaforma, quindi non posso esprimere una opinione che sia fondata, ma ho l'impressione che le prestazioni non dipendano dal codice scritto male o che non sfrutta l'hardware, secondo me è proprio l'hw che è quello che è... e questo è il motivo per cui non credo a chi parla di un macbook air con processore a5-6

Io di media tengo aperti tra i 5 e i 10 tab con AWB (completo), sinceramente non ho notato nessun rallentamento eccezionale nella mezzoretta in cui lo uso (ogni mattina). Ci farò più attenzione, ma mi pare strano.

Uso anche io AWB, dopo 4 tab ( e cmq dipende dal sito) inizia a rallentare. Ne bastano due di tab, se in uno dei due c'è un video in play dietro.
in generale la navigazione è fluida, ma non certo come un pc desktop e di sicuro con una cpu e gpu del genere, mi sarei aspettato MOLTO di più, rispetto ad ipad1 ad esempio.

Mi aspetto miglioramenti NETTI su ipad3, anche se a guardare il pessimo lavoro di ottimizzazione di webkit fatto fin ora, su iphone4s ad esempio, ci credo poco. Pensare troppo alla GPU per i giochi 3D di cui frega poco all'utenza media ipad ma tira sul lato marketing, ed invece ottimizzare male il software come iOs5 ( che è una porcata come uso delle risorse, visto che ha trasformato il mi 3GS in una rottame) è molto poco "apple".

A new report claims that Apple will turn to Sharp and switch to new IGZO LCD panels for both its next iPad and iPhone, allowing for thinner devices packing high-resolution displays with low power consumption.
A closer partnership with Sharp is said to have resulted in modified IGZO -- or indium, gallium, zinc -- technology to reach 330 dots-per-inch screen resolution, according to analyst Peter Misek with Jeffries. Sharp's IGZO technology is expected to allow Apple to offer a high-definition display without using the IPS technology currently featured in the iPhone or iPad for superior viewing angles, nor will it necessitate dual-bar LED backlighting.
"In our view, this should lead to several design advantages, namely the device can be thinner, battery life should be longer, and the overall experience for users should be meaningfully improved," Misek wrote in a note to investors this week.
IGZO panels are expected to initially appear in Apple's third-generation iPad. Misek said that Apple will be able to obtain the panels at a lower-than-expected price due to a high capital commitment from the company to Sharp.
He also expects that the technology would be featured in a new sixth-generation iPhone featuring high-speed long-term evolution 4G data, expected to arrive in 2012.
"The IGZO technology is perfect in that it offers near-OLED power consumption while having a lower cost and thinness that is only 25% greater than OLED, based on our checks," Misek wrote.
Earlier this month, rumors indicated that Apple was looking for a new dual-LED design to serve as a backlight for its third-generation iPad. Two LED light bars were said to be necessary to maintain the tablet's existing level of brightness with a higher density display.
But Misek believes that Apple could achieve that same goal without the need for two LED backlights by adopting Sharp's IGZO technology. Sharp began producing IGZO panels for mobile devices at its Kameyama No. 2 plant in the middle of its 2011 fiscal year.
Sharp has a bullish forecast for its for IGZO technology, and plans to ramp up production of LCD panels with the new technology accordingly throughout 2012. The primary use for IGZO displays, Sharp has said, will be for "tablet terminals."
Going forward, Misek said he also believes Apple and Sharp will jointly develop OLED panels for the iPhone and iPad, and those displays could appear in devices in the next two years. Sharp is said to have a new technology that "prints" an OLED panel onto a film that is then deposited onto glass.
"The yield improvements have been enormous and have enabled some trial runs to produce commercial yields," he wrote. "We expect Sharp/Apple to have a line testing this by the middle of 2012 with 2013 output possible."
At first, OLED displays are only expected to appear in Apple's smaller portable devices like the iPhone and iPad. Though Misek expects that Apple will release a full-fledged television set in mid-2012, he said OLED technology will likely not be ready for larger sized displays until 2015.

Hitachi and Sony are reported to have teamed up to supply Apple with 4-inch LCD displays for an unspecified iOS device that will hit the market in 2012. Meanwhile, Apple is also said to be working on a fundamentally distinct display technology for the iPad 4.

Citing sources within Apple's Far Eastern supply chain, macotakara.jp claims that Hitachi Displays, Ltd. and Sony Mobile Display Corporation have begun shipments of 4-inch LCD panels to Apple for unspecified iOS device due next year.
The two companies are further reported to merge their business with Toshiba Mobile Display Co., Ltd. to form "Japan Display" in 2012 spring.
The report arrives on the heels of claims from the Wall Street Journal, which said earlier this week that Sharp will also produce panels for the iPad 3 at its Kameyama No. 2 plant in central Japan; Apple typically sources its components from multiple partners.
A person familiar with the matter further claimed Apple has invested an unspecified amount in Sharp's factories. The investment is believed to help support Sharp's production capacity for IGZO (indium, gallium, zinc) LCD panels for the next iPhone and iPad that will allow for thinner designs and improved battery performance.
"The IGZO technology is perfect in that it offers near-OLED power consumption while having a lower cost and thinness that is only 25% greater than OLED, based on our checks," said Jeffries analyst Peter Misek.
Meanwhile, macotakara.jp also cites the same sources as saying that an unspecified Taiwanese company will soon be "providing LCD technology faces" to Apple for a "fundamentally changed" iPad 4 that will be manufactured by a new process.
