[PS4/3DS/Switc/PC/XOne] Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Agee Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition, ora multi su tutte le console
In its first two days of release in Japan, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age sold 113,182 digital copies on PlayStation 4 and 62,939 digital copies on 3DS, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals.
The Switch version of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is developed using Unreal Engine 4, series creator Yuji Horii said at Epic Games Japan’s Unreal Fest East 2017 at Pacifico Yokohama Conference Center today.
Several Twitter users who attended the event reported Horii as confirming the Switch version is developed in Unreal Engine 4, suggesting that it is a port of the PlayStation 4 version rather than the 3DS version. Horii questioned whether he could talk about the Switch version being developed in Unreal Engine 4, to which Square Enix programmer Mitsuru Kamiyama replied, “you already said it!” It should be noted that Unreal Engine 4 did not officially support Switch until version 4.15, while Dragon Quest XI was originally developed in version 4.13.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will launch for PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam on September 4 in North America and Europe, Square Enix announced.
The Square Enix Store will also sell an exclusive edition of the PlayStation 4 version of the game, the details of which will be announced at a later date.
Users who pre-order Dragon Quest XI on the PlayStation Store will receive a “The Legend Reborn” PlayStation 4 theme as an instant reward, as well as in-game downloadable content when the game launches.
In a statement to IGN, Square Enix said that it will not be localizing the 3DS version, but that the Switch version will be released in the west further down the line.
“We are also developing the Switch version for Europe and North America,” reads Square Enix’s statement, “but development is expected to take a long time from a technological standpoint as well, so we still have a long way to go until its release.”
While Square Enix did not announce a release date for the Switch version, it did confirm that it will not release in 2018, and could end up launching “much later.”
In addition to delivering over 100 hours of content, the western release of Dragon Quest XI will also feature several upgrades and enhancements that were not included in the Japanese release, including:
English voice-overs
Draconian Quest, a hard mode that offers additional challenges for more experienced players.
Overhauled menus and user interface, with graphical enhancements and more intuitive navigation.
Camera Mode, allowing players to take in views of the beautiful landscape, character renders and ferocious monsters in detail.
A new dash function and many other system enhancements such as improved character and camera movement
