■ Customize Your Hero

In Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3, it’s possible to change the appearance of the protagonist. ‘Changing your appearance’ is a special skill you’ll learn on your adventure, allowing you to change your look from what you decided at the beginning of the story. Consider your own color coordination and become a “Fashion Master.”

You can change the color of your hair, scarf, pants, gloves, and boots. You can choose from 12 colors for each section. These colors are also reflected in story scenes, as well as in the menu screen character artwork.

■ Customize Your Monsters

Sure you can change the appearance of the protagonist, but you can also change the appearance of your monsters through a new “paint synthesis” element. ■ Challenge Monster Masters Across the Country

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 has an internet feature that will let you compete against monster masters all over Japan. This time, we’ll detail the game’s “Wi-Fi Ranking Battle” mode.

 

What are Wi-Fi Ranking Battles?

Through Wi-Fi Ranking Battles, monster masters all of the country can register the data of the monsters they’ve trained and battle against the monsters registered by other monster masters.

Two types of tournaments will be held everyday for a certain period of time. When the tournaments close, final rankings will be announced, and the next day tournaments will be held again. You can enter a tournament at any time.

Master GP

In Master GP tournaments, each monster master fights using the monsters they’re proudest of to earn the title of “strongest” player. There are no restrictions on the monsters allowed to participate.

Challenger GP

Unlike Master GP where every monster can participate, in this tournament, there are conditions for the monsters that can register. Under these conditions, you’ll need to form a party and take on the challenge strategically.

 

■ Wi-Fi Ranking Battles

You can participate in Wi-Fi Ranking Battles by obtaining a “Participation Ticket.” 10 Participation Tickets are distributed each week.

In Ranking Battles, you’ll battle against randomly selected monster masters (matched to your own strength) from across the country in a series of three matches. You can also personally select the “strength” of the monster masters you battle. The higher the strength of your opponent, the higher the amount of points you’ll receive in the rankings.

When the final rankings of each tournament is announced, your ranking will be determined. Rankings will be updated everyday.

 

Auto-Battle

Ranking Battles also have an auto-battle feature. Using this, you can shorten battle time drastically.

 

Ride Monsters into Battle

Not only can you ride monsters in the field, you can also ride them into battle. By synchronizing with your monster, you can unlock all sorts of ability enhancements. There are also some special techniques that can only be triggered while riding a monster.

 

Coin Exchange

When you battle players online, you’ll receive coins as a rewards. These coins will be awarded for participating in Ranking Battles, coming out on top, and at various other times. These coins can be exchanged for accessories and monsters.

Local Multiplayer

Through Local Multiplayer, you can have battles and trade monsters with nearby rivals. Local battles consists of “1-on-1 Battles” and eight team maximum “Grand Prix Battles.”

 

Local Battles

Battle against rivals and compete for the title of ultimate monster master. Deciding which monster to ride in “Team Organization” is also important.

“Judge Points” are displayed at the bottom of the screen and are the key to victory. By attacking, using special skills and effects, and defeating your opponent’s monsters, your Judge Points will increase.

 

Trading Monsters

Through Local Multiplayer, you can also trade monsters with other players. You can even give a monster to a friend without receiving one in return.

 

StreetPass Battles

Through StreetPass Battles, you can fight other players’ teams that you pass in the streets. Similar to Local Multiplayer, not only can you test your skills and collect Communication Coins, you can scout rival teams’ monsters throughout the whole town.

You can set a team of monsters to be passed along via StreetPass from the menu.

When you’re set to ride a monster in battle, your character will appear riding that monster. Your customizations and such will be reflected.

You can scout a single monster up to Rank A in battle. When you come across a monster on a rival team that you want, attack it boldly.

 

SpotPass

In addition to Local Multiplayer and StreetPass Battles, and the previously introduced Wi-Fi Multiplayer, there is also a SpotPass element. If you have SpotPass set, you can receive valuable items, treasure chests, and various other good things.

Sometimes a Stealth Box will appear in the Internet Multiplayer Plaza. What could be inside?

Special battles with special teams including rare monsters may also be triggered.

Great Riders Cup

■ Great Riders Cup

First, you’ll choose a monster to ride. In the Great Riders Cup, the level and size of the monster is irrelevant.

Then, you’ll try to capture as much slimes on the field as possible, bringing them back to your goal to earn points.

You can choose to carry a number of slimes at the same time, earning a large quantity of points all at once upon bringing them to your goal.

Each monster has its own different abilities, including movement speed and attack techniques.

By using an “Impact Stomp,” you can attack the other party and take away their slimes.

■ Master’s Road

If you fall off the map due to an an unforeseen circumstance, you’ll have to start again from the beginning.

 

■ Gates to Different Dimensions

In Break World, only with your Reactor can you find gates leading to another dimension. Through these gates that cross space and time, you will encounter the monster masters of a different world, unexpected monsters, and a number of other surprises.

There are powerful monsters wandering about the different world. Make your preparations after discovering a gate and then jump in.

After jumping into the rip in space-time, you’ll see an environment unlike what you’ve seen before. Be sure to search every corner.

You’ll sometimes encounter masters outside of the protagonist. Defeat them for items that will help you on your adventure.

 

■ Super Vital Synthesis

In Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3, you can synthesize two monsters to create a more powerful monster. But there is also a new synthesis method called “Super Vital Synthesis.”

Through Super Vital Synthesis, the combined monster’s strength-denoting Rank instantly rises to SS. Additionally, the characteristics held by the original monsters can be inherited by the newly born monster.

For example, Super Vital Synthesizing a mimic (normal body, Absorb Magic, fast action)…

…with a dragon slime (small body, Parameter Break, glance up)…

…creates an SS-Rank Lumbering Machine that inherits the “fast action” of his parent, allowing him to attack before enemies.

You can also freely decide which size the child monster takes in a Super Vital Synthesis. For example, you can create a compact-size Dragonlord to ride around.

 

■ Take to the Heavens

By riding on a giant monster, you can fly around freely in the sky, where you’ll discover previously unseen monsters and lands.

In the sky fields, you can ride any monster if it’s big enough. Size them up via Super Vital Synthesis and fly through the sky on your favorite monsters.
