Info:

The most bountiful of the newly revealed details pertains to the gameplay systems. Battles with the eponymous villain Trillion (pictured in the middle of page 114), who, true to his name, has one trillion (1,000,000,000,000) HP, take place with both sides taking their turns simultaneously. (While an explicit confirmation isn’t present in the article, the wording implies that this doesn’t otherwise mean that combat unfolds in a purely real-time or pseudo-real-time manner.) Trillion’s immediate goal during such skirmishes is to break through defensive lines from the other end of the map. As such, this means that from the player’s side of things, it’s important to deal damage while minimizing the amount received in return. To make matters worse, Trillion also has four different types of helpers (pictured in the bottom left corner of page 114) that can accompany him, each with different specialties such as rushing down players and breaking through their defenses and attacking from long ranges, making them serious threats in spite of their diminutive size.

Though Trillion is immensely powerful, when fighting him, players have a few tricks up their sleeves to help even the odds. One of these is the fact that every move Trillion intends to make is made known in advance, with details such as attack range and timing (ie: which turn Trillion will execute his move) provided up front. Additionally, individual parts of Trillion’s body can be targeted; if enough HP is chipped away, the armor around that part temporarily breaks, resulting in him becoming unable to perform any skills that rely on that part of his body. This countermeasure is only temporary, however, as his armor will eventually regenerate.

Players also have the option of fleeing the battlefield, which allows them to keep their Demon Lords and continue to raise them, but at the cost of ceding territory to Trillion. Indeed, losing battles in general gives up more territory to him and the game is lost if he reaches the innermost sanctum of players’ territory. That being said, as we’ve detailed before, much like Trillion’s attacks during combat, the pace at which he’ll advance is made known to players and can change as he takes more and more damage over time.

Nevertheless, it’s still important to take time away from battling the raise the six female Demon Lords that protagonist that Zeabolos (seen in the upper left corner of page 114 to the left of Faust) has at his disposal, as doing so ties into the Memory Point system. Memory Points are gained by doing things such as training the girls and buying/selling items, among other things, and the points can in turn be substituted in for HP and MP when it’s time to face down Trillion. In a worst case scenario and a Demon Lord does find herself felled by the antagonist, however, she can pull off a last ditch Dying Skill, a culmination of her remaining life force and all the memories she’s accumulated. The specific effects can vary, ranging from simply dealing out massive amounts of damage to permanently sealing some of Trillion’s skills. Using it, however, will result in their death being finalized. Barring that, Booster Devils (depicted in the bottom right corner of page 115) are soldiers that can also be brought into fights and are implied to be powerful allies belonging to the Demon Lords, though their capabilities remain ambiguous as of yet.

A handful of characters are also profiled in Dengeki’s article. First up is Trillion, who’s described as the amalgamation of one trillion grudges. During the time of the first Demon King (Zeabolos himself is the third), he posed a grave threat to the hellish demon world in which the game takes place. His sheer size is said to come from the cores of the myriad worlds that he’s consumed.

Also showcased is Luushe (shown taking up the bulk of page 115 and voiced by Ayane Sakura). One the six Demon Lords who works under Zeabolos, she’s his niece. Having received a high quality education since she was really young, she comes with pride abound, a selfish attitude, and is a demeaning know-it-all overall. She looks down on Zeabolos for originally losing to Trillion prior to his revival by Faust and therefore intends to take the throne for herself. As one can surmise, the Deadly Sin she represents is Pride.

The other five Demon Lords are also briefly depicted at the bottom of page 115 underneath Luushe’s profile, who are listed as follows, starting from the left:

Revia (voiced by Asami Imai), Envy incarnate and Zeabolos’ childhood friend.
Mamon (voiced by Saori Oonishi), Zeabolos’ younger cousin and representative of Greed.
Phegor (voiced by Rui Tanabe), Zeabolos’ older sister and the epitome of Sloth.
Ashumedia (voiced by Natsue Sasamoto): Zeabolos’ older cousin and the embodiment of Lust.
Peruperu (voiced by Mai Fuchigami): Luushe’s younger sister and the stand-in for Gluttony.

Makai Shin Trillion is currently slated for a release in Japan sometime during 2015 for PS Vita.

Info e screens:

For instance, with respect to the timing as to when players are expected to fight the eponymous antagonist Trillion, it’s now clear that the gameplay is split into two overarching phases. During the “Slumbering” one, Trillion isn’t proactively on the prowl, instead temporarily halting his progression. This provides players an opportunity to work on training their Demon Lord to be the best they can. Once he awakens from his slumber, he enters his “Advancing” phase, at which point players are expected to roll out and try to impede him in battle.

On that note, battles, which have previously been described ambiguously as using a “simultaneous turn system,” are now confirmed to be a hybrid of grid-based SRPG mechanics at its core with real-time combat elements added in. As ever, Trillion’s objective remains to cross players’ defensive line. Though it was more or less implied in previous coverage, it’s now explicitly stated to be more or less an inevitability that for most any average battle, Trillion will indeed accomplish this. The point of each skirmish, then, is to try and chip off as much of his 1 trillion HP as possible before he reaches that point, ideally while taking as little guff as possible along the way.

A sliver of additional details have also been revealed about the four main types of minions that Trillion will bring along with him. Pictured above, these are as follows from left to right:

Rushdown Type: Sports high attack power and is actively bent on wreaking havoc for players.
Long Distance Type: Prefers to maintain a safe distance away from players as they lob attacks at them.
Support Type: A defensive type that tries to support and heal the other minions.
Iron Wall Type: High in defense, this one can be expected to be found hovering around Trillion and protecting him first and foremost.

Likewise, the Booster Devils, seen above, have also gotten some more clarification. Sporting specialized suits developed by Faust herself, Booster Devils are anti-Trillion soldiers that carry souls offered up by inhabitants of the demon world and are as such capable of withstanding the poisonous miasma he exudes to a degree. They can accompany Demon Lords into battle and while they can’t be controlled directly, raising each girl’s CAP stat (short for “captaining”) lets then bring more and more with them as time goes on.

Finally, a slight update on Dying Skills has been provided. As previously mentioned, Dying Skills are a special move that can be executed when a Demon Lord is on the brink of death. But beyond just making a noticeable dent on Trillion, it also serves to put the next Demon Lord set to come after her in a better position for upcoming battles as she inherits the torch. The update includes two in-game examples of Dying Skills that players can expect to encounter, listed below:

Transient Blow: Deals huge damage to Trillion by expending a Demon’s Lords remaining life force to the fullest.
Eternal Seal: Permanently seals off the skills used by one part of Trillion’s body by thrusting a huge weapon at his armor and breaking it.
