Mass Effect 4 story won’t touch on Shepard’s events “whatsoever,” says BioWare

Mass Effect 4′s plot will not touch on Shepard’s story “whatsoever,” according to the third game’s lead writer Mac Walters.

 

Speaking with Complex, Walters said of the plot, “Well, I can’t get into details, but the idea is that we have agreed to tell a story that doesn’t relate necessarily to any of the Shepard events at all, whatsoever.

“That’s what we’ve been deciding for a while. But throughout it all, one of the key things is that it has to be Mass Effect. It can’t just feel like a spin-off. It has to feel like a Mass Effect game at its heart, at its core. Just without the Shepard character or the Shepard specific companions.”

Last year I asked BioWare to explain what Mass Effect 4′s new character is going to be like and they told me that they basically don’t want to create a ‘Shepard 2′. It seems they really do want to start with a clean slate.

On ‘that’ Mass Effect 3 ending and the way Shepard’s story concluded, Walters added, “It’s been 18-19 months since it came out and my thoughts on it are that we addressed it the best we could in the Extended Cut. We’re obviously not going to be changing anything now. We’re only going forward.

“To be fair, I get people, especially at the conventions, who will say, ‘I loved it. It was heart-wrenching, but I felt it was right for my Shepard.’ And to me, that’s why it was the right path. But because there was no choice, it was going to be right for some people, and for others, in the middle, and other people were obviously very upset about it. In hindsight, I don’t think there was anything we would have changed about that, but it is a really good lesson learned.”

Bioware, tramite le parole del lead Writer Mac Walters, parla del prossimo capitolo di Mass Effect, affermando che gli eventi narrati non saranno incentrati su Shepard o il suo equipaggio.

"Non posso entrare nei dettagli, ma l'idea è di raccontare una storia che non sia legata necessariamente ad alcun evento che abbia coinvolto Shepard", ha spiegato Walters, "è quello che abbiamo deciso, ma nonostante tutto, uno degli elementi chiave è che dev'essere comunque un Mass Effect. Non può sembrare uno spin-off, dev'essere un Mass Effect nella sua stessa natura, solo che non avrà Shepard né i suoi compagni".

Infatti la trilogy è chiusa

ehm secondo Lucas, che essendo il creatore della saga ha forse marriore voce in capitolo, Star Wars è la storia di Anakin, ovvero della sua nascita, caduta e redenzione. L'universo espanso è ben altro e c'è veramente l'immondezzaio lì in mezzo (vedasi il potere della forza o i crossover con i LEGO).

 

Inutile girarci intorno... EA ha intuito da tempo che il marchio Mass Effect tira e se ne sbatte se la storia è bella che conclusa.

MASS EFFECT è la saga spaziale che piu amo......shepard mi mancherà ma credo che i bioware sanno come creare personaggi carismatici e mondi fantastici da visitare quindi non mi preoccupo....una cosa:

Mi pare l'avessero già detto che la nuova trilogia sarebbe stata scissa dalla precedente.

Mi auguro si impegnino anche a renderlo più rpg e meno shooter, ma sotto l'egida EA non lo vedo troppo realizzabile come desiderio purtroppo.
