WLI: Based on your hands-on time with the system, what do you think of the Wii U at this point?

CvG: For us it's been easier to work with than we expected. The weird things is that members of the press have probably spent more time with the actual system and games than we have. We're just slaving away with the development kits and haven't had much hands-on time with the game demos yet.

Today, the 1st draft Wii U specific level editor was implemented. It's a proof of concept, so no promises yet! But it looks promising! You basically see everything you add on the gamepad being added to a paused version of the game on your TV. Switch! And Play! It is still early though, it is based on our internal PC editor but simplified and more limited in scope.

- one giant game world
- you can stomp, which prompts animals to run away or follow a certain action
- you can whistle to attract creatures
- each creature type reacts differently to your actions
- one area features Mediterranean-style buildings in the background
- picked up by a bird and carried away to new areas when you transition
- there are frogs that blow bubbles to transport you upwards
- they must have a berry to eat to produce the bubble
- one area where the bird can't see you due to tall grass
- you have to get a giant lobster to follow you and crush the grass with a block of wood on its back
- these creatures are also movable platforms in other areas
- level editor: use the GamePad touch screen to select and place items and specific environments
- final result is on the TV screen
