We were invited to an evening gaming with showmatchs of StarCraft II and ShootMania for the launch of the new PC HP Phoenix.
We noted the presence of fr.pngAdelscott, fr.pngMoman and fr.pngHaRts, the latter two have clashed on ShootMania.
fr.pngHaRts won the WCG 2007 Counter-Strike and fr.pngMoman was a Pro-gamer of Counter-Strike during several years and plays now on StarCraft II with Millenium like fr.pngHaRts.
We saw two game modes designed specifically for this event, the jousting and the duel (that name should be changed for the release)
The principle of the jousting :
Both players start from the same place and at the same time but without ammunition. To retrieve ammunition, it must reach a pole. This gives 5 rockets. If you need additional ammunition, you must reach the second pole on the map. To win, you have to hit your opponent seven times with two-point gap until 9.
If the map is elevated and we fall into a hole, we lose a point. If one dies, we begin at the spawn and without ammunition, it must reach one pole again.
There were also one block giving one or two shots of railgun or arrows but to use them, we had to stay on the block. By cons, it is impossible to camp, there is a max time for take ammunitions else we lose a point.
The winner is the player who wins three times.
The principle of the duel:

But this time, there are items like a shield, a weapon as the railgun or arrows (flood of arrows), fast charging, rate of fire, magazine capacity... We can only have two shields at the same time. The winner is the player who wins 5 times with 2-point gap until 9. Rounds can be very short as long.
Weapons:
We could see the basic weapon is a rocket launcher, the railgun and arrows. We don't know if there will be other weapons available.
The gameplay:
Movement are fast enough but less than in Quake as an example. There is a stamina bar that allow us to run even faster and recharges with time. We have seen players make a rocket jump or bounce against a wall to jump further. The rocket jump will be used with caution if ammunition is limited. There are also bumper that can jump farther and higher, but only in one direction and slippery areas.
The interface:
The player's interface is very limited, there is a bar for ammunition, for a shield and for endurance. Above the bar on the left, we have a chat like Canyon.
The interface viewer is more complete with the score of the round, the map, the name of players, time, the bars of players, their avatar and their country.
Conclusion :
We can say that Nadeo has done an excellent job as we have seen a version that is not even an alpha, a lot of things will change.
The game is designed for the 1 vs 1, 1 vs 3, 3 vs 3 and 5 vs 5 but it is of course possible to make other modes using the maniascript.
The game may be required by esport thanks to its unique gameplay, the intensity of matches and a viewer interface that will allow everyone to easily spectate games.
No date for the beta or the release has been announced, it will be like Hylis likes to say "when it's done".
