Spoiler
Capcom's Japanese news release confirmed my suspicions: Revelations is certainly the next CODE: Veronica (or perhaps Degeneration) of the series. Not thematically or as a sequel, but as a game that is clearly going to be a canon storyline and non-derived gameplay entry but without a numeral to go along with it. It doesn't matter whether they go back or forward from RE5, since RE0 went back but is certainly a main series entry. Capcom's Japanese press release calls Revelations the next and newest Biohazard, a designation they last used with RE5 and then RE4 before that. Wouldn't be surprised if this game's plot was to be used for either a previous version of RE5 or even RE6 at one point. Kinda like how MGSPW was MGS5 at one time.
Following last week’s announcement that Capcom currently has two titles, Resident Evil: Revelations and Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (tentative title), in development for the Nintendo 3DS the first trailer for Resident Evil: Revelations has just been released and is now available for download from our press extranet. Featuring appearances from Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine the trailer is rendered in real time using the game engine.
"Our company is very committed to the Nintendo 3DS because they see it as a platform that can offer many possibilities for both publishers and developers. For that same reason, we want to keep the essence of the series intact, while at the same time maintaining high standards and surprise fans of the series. I myself am very involved with this project." - Keiji Inafune
- story involves Jill and Chris, as well as the BSAA
- uses the MT Framework Mobile development tools
- "Survival Horror"
