DESCRIZIONE:

Stupisce che a così tanti anni dalla nascita dei platform 2D si possa ancora ideare un titolo che basa almeno metà del suo carisma sul level design, sopratutto senza stravolgere i canoni fondamentali di un genere longevo e probabilmente immortale.

Shovel Knight dimostra che studiare il passato può essere il primo passo per reinterpretare i grandi classici in chiave moderna, arrivando addirittura a lambire la qualità delle pietre miliari del game design.

Il gioco risulta ben sviluppato, rifinito e longevo, grazie ad un tasso di difficoltà impegnativo ma mai estremo, che premia l’abilità e punisce le disattenzioni in modo costruttivo ed imparziale. Con la promessa di ulteriori contenuti in arrivo, Shovel Knight si candida ad essere uno dei capisaldi dei platform vecchio stile dei giorni nostri, che guardano alle produzioni più moderne quali Donkey Kong Country Returns e i più recenti episodi di Mario in 2D senza timore o reverenza.

In occasione della Game Developers Conference 2015 Microsoft ha pubblicato il trailer relativo alla versioneXbox One di Shovel Knight, interessante platform sviluppato dallo studio indipendente Yacht Club Game che prende in prestito elementi tipici dei GDR.
