Qui si discute su news generiche, nuovo annunci riguardanti sia giochi che console come ad esempio bundle, nuovi colori, restyle e via dicendo, sono accettati i rumor (che vanno trattati come tali) e per TUTTE le notizie si richiede SEMPRE il link ad una fonte attendibile.

Amazon ha finalmente svelato oggi FireTV. Si tratta di una piattaforma da collegare alle nostre TV che permetterà agli utenti di accedere istantaneamente ad un incredibile catalogo di film, serie televisive ed anche videogiochi. Secondo il colosso dell'e-Commerce, inoltre, saranno presenti "migliaia" di videogiochi, tra cui prodotti del calibro di Minecraft. Non mancherà nemmeno una grande libreria di produzioni Free to Play. Amazon Game Studios, inoltre, sta attualmente sviluppando una serie di nuove IP per la piattaforma, incluso un first person shooter chiamato "Sev Zero". Tra gli altri giochi mostrati per il media device troviamo Asphalt 8 e Monster's University. 
FireTV è basata sul sistema operativo Android, oltre ad essere caratterizzata da un processore quad core, 2GB di Ram ed una GPU dedicata, ed è disponibile a partire da oggi negli Stati Uniti al prezzo di 99 dollari. Previsto anche un apposito controller, venduto però separatamente al prezzo di 39,99 dollari.

FireTV non è una vera e propria console per videogiochi, nonostante questo i principali publisher sono al lavoro per creare titoli ottimizzati per questa piattaforma: una versione speciale di Minecraft arriverà presto, inoltre Telltale ha annunciato che prossimamente saranno disponibili tre titoli del suo catalogo, ovvero Game of Thrones, The Wolf Among Us e The Walking Dead. Take-Two ha svelato NBA 2K14 mentre Gameloft lancerà Asphalt 8 Airborne, Modern Combat 4 Zero Hour e Cattivissimo Me 2. Anche Double Fine, Disney Interactive, UbiSoft e SEGA presenteranno videogiochi compatibili con FireTV, al momento però non abbiamo altri dettagli. Infine, segnaliamo che Amazon Game Studios ha pubblicato lo sparatutto Sev Zero, primo di una lunga serie di esclusive sviluppate dall'ex team Double Helix.

Microsoft Studios appears to have let go of a number of staffers, as confirmed by tweets from some of the affected. Its unclear why these employees have been let go, or how many people have been made redundant, but something seems to be going on.


UPDATE: contacting VG247, a Microsoft representative said of the lay-offs, At Xbox, our goal is to constantly create new fun, social and interactive entertainment experiences. As part of our commitment to this goal, we are always evaluating our development priorities, and there are times when decisions need to be made to realign plans and refocus our efforts.

Microsoft Studios continues to grow as an overall organization as we focus and invest in key priority areas that will drive future profitable growth.

Neowin reports that several Microsoft Studios employees received word on April 2, that they would no longer be working for the company.

It turns out that Lanning had been completely misinterpreted, and in truth it would be physically impossible for Xbox One performance to align with PlayStation 4′s:

Actually that is NOT what he said. I spoke to Lorne afterwards and what he meant when speaking to that guy was that budgets, schedules and perceivable differences would narrow, NOT that the Xbox One performance is improving to align with PS4, that is just physically impossible. The PS4 has MORE COMPUTE units, and faster memory and a whole bunch of things, that would make that physically impossible to happen.

As I imagined, then, Lanning had been merely referring to development costs and the likes, certainly not the performance the hardware cant change, after all, and there is only so much that a driver update can do
