Tormentum is a surreal adventure game, featuring moral choices.
The action of the game is set in a dark world, veering between dreams and nightmare. The main protagonist, that the player takes control over, doesn't remember his name nor the place where he came from. Visiting new lands, he slowly starts to uncover the truth about himself.
The dreamlike atmosphere featured in the game was inspired by the works of a Polish painter, Zdzislaw Beksinski, and a recently deceased Swiss painter, H.R.Giger, among others.
The game starts off with the main hero waking up from a dream and finding himself locked in a metal cage. The cage is suspended by a chain from a sizeable flying machine which seems to be headed for an unknown direction. The only memory the hero is able to summon is a faint vision of a hill with a sculpture on its top. Oddly enough, the sculpture depicted a forest of human hands, raised towards the sky. If only he was able to find that place then maybe his memory would return as well...
Unfortunately, bigger problems seem to arise. The flying ship lands in a big castle and the main hero is soon imprisoned in it. This is how this surreal story from the border of dream and reality begins...
Traversing different areas the hero learns the dark world in which he was imprisoned. Visiting new lands, he slowly starts to uncover the truth about himself.

Che io sappia gli episodi son 5 e ne sono usciti 3, ho giocato il primo e pensavo di non averci capito nulla. Invece sembra punta e clicca che più punta e clicca non si può. Le opzioni dei dialoghi contano? O è tutto meta e le differenze si vedono alla fine? Cioè a volta mi sembra di scegliere tra roba giusta, sbagliata o che salta tutto

RPS: Speaking of future episodes, will any of the choices I made come back in a significant way or progression-altering way? Like, there was the phone call Shannon was having when I first met her, and I only saw one side of it? Will I eventually see the other?
Jake Elliott: Yeah, that one will come up again. We store, in the saved game file, a lot of different decisions that the player makes. Our goal is to bring them back up in ways that are more poetic rather than being big branching decisions. We have plans for a few of them to have some kind of weird consequences. Small things that you do that you don’t expect to have large consequences. It’s not supposed to be a place where the player is being strategic. It’s supposed to just be something that’s responding to what the player does. Does that make sense?
