Star Ocean 3 is one of my favorite RPG's in the past decade. Same developer. So expectations are high.

I can tell you that Tales is much longer. I'm pretty sure I'm closing in on the end of Infinite Undiscovery and my game clock is at 20 hours. There could be the typical Square thing where right before the final boss battle a ton of side missions open up. If not, this is probably 25 hours. Not a bad thing really, considering how many other games there are coming the rest of the year. You can get IU out of the way in time for Fable 2, Fallout 3, Gears of War, etc.

Just to clarify, in case people don't know, you don't really control other characters. Connect Attacks allow you to direct other party member's attacks and sometimes you get interactive elements -- like aiming someone's bow. But you're pretty much set controlling the main character. We have a battle system interview with the game's director going up on Monday.

My primary complaint -- waaay too many characters to manage for such a short game. I think I have 16 or 17 characters in my party right now (only 4 can go in your combat party), but you have to manage inventory for all of them because sometimes you are forced to take a character with you on a mission, so you have to prepare everyone in a town before heading out. Pain in the ass. Plus, the more characters piled on, the more it takes story time away from the others. Bad decision, IMO.

Looks like the review embargo may be moved up. I believe it can be reviewed on Wed (original embargo was Friday).

ma scusate cmq quello li dice che nn l ha ancora terminato che ci potrebbero essere le side quest...mi pare un po' presto per dire che è corto....aspettiamo qualche rece perchè uno che dice sono a 20 ore e me ne mancheranno 5(lo dice lui?!?!) senza le side quest(visto che nn sa se ci sono) mi pare un po' campato in aria

Se in 20 ore arrivi praticamente alla fine è un relativo pacco a prescindere, sidequest o meno

Senza contare che avere un blocco di sidequest SOLO alla fine è una cagata, è infinitamente meglio portarle avanti durante TUTTO il gioco.

Dicasi Tales of the Abyss che sto a 36 ore e ancora molto lontano dalla fine con un sacco di sidequest che porto avanti mano a mano che vado avanti

Beh, potrebbero esserci delle sidequest nel corso del gioco, ma magari il tizio non ne è a conoscenza. Senza contare i soliti dungeon bonus tipici dei giochi tri-Ace. E l'Item Creation.

Certo, 25 ore circa per la quest principale restano abbastanza poche (sempre se il tipo finirà davvero il gioco in 25 ore)...

star ocean 2 non era da 30 ore eh......però i muri invisibili, tutti quei psg...boh imho il prodotto da attendere è star ocean 4 ed i prossimi vp (ds e next gen...)
